Polyolefins Commissioning Specialist – Antwerp


The Polyolefins Licensing Services Group is tasked with the delivery of ~15 world scale PE and PP plants to various licensees around the globe for the licensed processes. This is a chance to join a small team of leading engineers for 2-3 years providing engineering support; training; commissioning and operations support to these licensees. Commissioning locations include Malaysia; China; Russia & USA.

The job holder will ideally have up to 10 years operational experience on one of the polyolefins processes. They will be prepared to travel extensively for periods of 6-8 weeks at client sites gaining valuable commissioning; operations; team leadership experiences on multiple process platforms. The candidates will also be trained on the specific aspects of the latest polymers technology incorporated at each site they may commission, and also the specific skills required to support commissioning in a 3rd party environment.


 Contribute to safe operation at client site

 Deliver technical services at client site (Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Start-up, Production, Transitions, Optimization support)

 Develop / modify technical manuals and operating guidelines in support of licensing packages

 Contribute to the internal evaluation and optimization of operating guidelines

 Deliver training sessions and documentation for licensees

 Apply process/production knowledge and expertise on a project basis to production assets

 Maintain and develop process and production expertise to be recognized as a competent process expert by Licensing clients for problem solving and operations improvements

 Assist in technical clarification meetings, lead Licensees through plant visit to display our process capabilities

 Provide technical support to Licensees after initial delivery of Licensing contracts (Technical Exchange) and build commercial and technical relationship through successful problem solving skills

 Analyze and criticize design proposed by equipment suppliers. Propose selection/modifications of equipment suppliers offer to the approval of the process implementation manager.

 Execute studies to ensure safe design of the polyolefins process proposed to Licensees through participation in HSE process reviews, SIL reviews and transfer of proper documentation to Licensees on HSE guidelines

 Ensure safe practices of team enforcing traveling safety guidelines

 Participate in plant safety audits

Functie eisen

Level of education & Experience in general :

 Engineers with a degree and up to 10 years’ experience in Polyolefins operations/engineering, or Operators with more than 5 years Polyolefins experience

 Experience on a unit running technology similar to the Licensed technology is a plus

 Ability to communicate in English

Technical and behavioral skills :

 Broad knowledge of chemical process engineering and /or operations

 Culturally aware and able to work well with many nationalities

 Good communication skills and ability to work well with diverse teams such as engineering contractors, manufacturing & process engineers and client operations and engineering teams
